This will be one of our last posts for a while.
We don’t leave until the first of June, but between moving, helping family, and looking for an RV, we’ll be pressed for time to write you.
I really wanted to take the time and share with you a few pieces of insight, experience, general info, blah blah that are relevant for us at the moment.
I also want to say thank you to each and every one of you who have supported us, bought our furniture, and been excited about this journey with us. It would not be possible without our tribe.
While we won’t be writing regularly on our travels these next few months, we’ll be vlogging at least once a week; that’s our goal right now.
This is bon voyage for now, but I hope you feel a little closer to us as we send you videos of us figuring out how to traverse the beautiful lands of the UK.
A few takeaways:
1.Renting apartments suck and there is no way around that.
The past seven ish months we’ve been in our first place together has been a small kind of nightmare. Between the natural course of what happens to an old building, to being a part of three different rounds of management and maintenance, we are daily reminded why we don’t want to do this anymore.
An RV is not a normal choice for most people who get frustrated with renting a home or apartment in Texas, but it is for us. At this point, we are still on the hunt for our new home, but we are excited to own our home. To me, that is worth the “suffering” that comes from not have rights as a renter.
2. We’re moving to Oregon!
For those of you who don’t know yet, we are moving to the coast of Oregon where Jeremy will be working as a park ranger. He did it, y’all! He hadn’t even finished school before he got the offer. He’s kind of a bad ass.
Needless to say, we are head over heels for our soon to be home town. While we’ll only be there for six months, the adventure has set its own course and we are thrilled.
3. We are still on the hunt for an RV.
I have been reluctant to let you know what we are looking for, but the more people helping out the better the chances of finding our home!
We know the right one will show up and we’re trying to be patient/open but it’s hard. We’ve already been disappointed a couple times, which is fun…
- We are looking for a 27-31′ Class C Motorhome
- At least one slide out
- Big ish kitchen
- Low mileage
- No water damage (or minimal and easy to fix)
- Clean title
- Ideal brands: Coachmen or Winnebago
- Budget: $20,000 (for now)
4. As my dad said, “I could stand to have 804 miles ahead of me.”
We are ready for a change of pace. A change of scenery. A change in life lived. I can’t believe the time has come and the ducks have found themselves in a row.
5. We are getting rid of the last pieces of our now home.
We still have a few pieces of furniture and odds and ends to sell/get rid of, but as of this coming Saturday, we are bound for Dallas before heading to London with only what we need upon arrival back in Texas.
Everyone always says you never know how much you have until you move, and that goes for people who already get rid of stuff on the regular. It is freeing in a way I could not have imagined.
6. You can keep up with us via email or YouTube.
Like I said, we’ll be posting videos regularly which you can watch from our YouTube channel. If you ever have any questions or just want to say hello, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or comment on the videos. We’d love to hear from you!
We hope you enjoy your summer adventures as much as we will. Stay safe, stay cool, and always stay classy.
